Despite the difficulties imposed by the coronavirus restrictions this year, the G100 has continued to build a vibrant network online where CFOs exchanged ideas and best practice in these uncertain times.
The G100 ensured the members are kept up to date with all manner of issues and continued to engage with members, held all the scheduled meetings via teleconference and continued to work tirelessly behind the scenes, advocating for the members.
While imposed restrictions prevented the regular member networking events and dinners this year, the G100 had launched a series of webinars which bring critical information from leading organisations, government and regulators to the members.
Four webinars have taken place so far this year, and another four are planned to take place in the upcoming months. Each webinar is tackling issues relevant to the G100 members ranging from company reporting during the pandemic, ASIC expectations, the future of reporting, through to cyber-security.
The latest in the G100 webcast series for members will be held the day after the 2020 Federal Budget. Titled “Post-Budget reflections while dealing with the pandemic” this webinar will take place on Wednesday, 7 October 2020 from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm (AEDT), and is being hosted for the G100 by Deloitte.
The G100 annual ‘Federal Political Engagement Day’ was held virtually. Twelve senior politicians joined us in the two-day event that took place on the 22 & 23 September 2020. The sessions consisted of a series of informal 25-minute briefings and Q&A.
We heard from several Shadow Ministers and Chairs of Parliamentary Committees. While the focus this year was on the Opposition (it alternates each year), we also heard from a couple of prominent Government backbenchers and Chairs of key Standing Committees.
CFO Live, the G100 annual CFO Congress held in association with the Australian Financial Review, is still going ahead, as planned. It will take place on 29 October, for those who can get to Sydney will be held in person at the Sofitel Wentworth, for everyone else it will be online.
This year, we focus on the financial and operational strategies that will help businesses stay afloat and emerge strongly from the current crisis. This one-day ‘hybrid event’ will gather the nation’s top CFOs to give voice to their unique operational and strategic perspectives on current issues and challenges.
Janelle Hopkins, Chair of G100 and CFO of REA Group, said: “I look forward to the time we are all able to meet again in person, until that time, please all stay safe and join us online”.
