Now more than six months into the pandemic, the Group of 100 (G100) continues to assist members by making representations on matters of importance, holding exclusive interactive webcasts dealing with key issues arising from the pandemic amongst others.
The latest event in the 2020 member webinar series, titled “Post-Budget reflections and impacts of COVID-19” took place Wednesday, 7 October 2020 and it was hosted by Deloitte.
The expert panel was moderated by Janelle Hopkins, Chair of the G100 and CFO of REA Group under the Chatham House Rule. The 40 participants heard from Deloitte Access economist Chris Richardson and well known Non-Executive Board Director and Board Chair, Gordon Cairns.
The discussion included what Government reform was needed, cutting red tape and ensuring reporting framework flexibility. It also discussed the pandemic – what to expect coming out of the pandemic as well as coping with further restrictions it if there is no vaccine for some time.
After hearing from the panel, the Q&A session covered a variety of topics, including the probability of future pandemics, the possibility of a permanently unstable economic landscape, as well as the lessons learned to date.
