Tax ideas being pitched to Government and Opposition
The G100 has been working closely with PwC on ideas for taxation reform. The measures we are suggesting are targeted and self-contained rather than suggesting sweeping reforms.
Broadly, the suggestions fall into the areas of:
- corporate tax (valuations, corporate residency, Significant Global Entities’ reporting, and Controlled Foreign Company rules);
- employment taxes (FBT and car parking benefits, FBT and entertainment, and payroll tax deduction threshold);
- GST (lifting the GST registration turnover threshold, introduction of mandated GST recovery rates for financial services, and safe harbour GST instalment rate); and
- Stamp Duty (standardisation of reporting requirements and systems).
Proxy Adviser Issues
We are again appealing to companies that have had issues with proxy advisers. ASIC has told us that they are prepared to consider issues companies put forward anonymously. If you have experienced issues please contact the G100 in confidence via email on firstname.lastname@example.org

G100 Congress 2019
The bi-annual Group of 100 Congress will be held in Melbourne in early November 2019. Congress is currently locking in major sponsors and speakers. More information about the President’s dinner, the Congress, and social function will be circulated later in 2018.
Social Events a success
The G100 held functions in Melbourne and in Sydney during September with our members as guests of the Melbourne Recital Centre where we were treated to a superb performance by James Morrison and his Academy Jazz Orchestra. The Sydney event saw the G100 members hosted by the Sydney City Recital Hall where they were treated to a memorable concert by Paul Grabowsky and Lior.
It is hoped that functions with the Melbourne Recital Centre and the Sydney City Recital Hall will become regular fixtures in the G100 calendar offering our G100 members a chance to meet socially.
As mentioned, we have several working groups that need more participants from our member companies particularly the ‘Capital Markets’, ‘Leadership & Diversity’ and the ‘Future of the Profession’ working groups.
Our Taxation, External Reporting, and Sustainability working groups have sufficient members.
The working groups provide an ideal opportunity for members of a CFO’s team to get involved in issues management as well as providing the opportunity to work with peers in other companies.

This initiative has been an outstanding success with more than fifty candidates having completed the program; the program is open to all staff of member companies.
One of the reasons for the success of this program has been the involvement of our members in the various sessions sharing anecdotes relating to the topics discussed. If you would like to assist us in this worthwhile program please contact the G100 secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org
