The Group of 100 (G100) is delighted to invite you and members of your team to the G100’s virtual forum on Sustainable Finance: latest trends, resources and challenges. This forum has been organised by the G100’s Sustainability working group.

Climate change, environmental action and social equity issues are beginning to impact lending and investment behaviour, which is leading to an increased focus on ESG integration into core strategy by firms. Major trading blocks are also developing strategies, regulations and financial incentives designed to support decarbonisation objectives and climate-resilient development agendas. With the cost of finance being more closely linked to sustainability performance, it is likely that the importance of ESG metrics for both lenders/investors and shareholders will increase. Organisations are encouraged to get ahead of the curve by building, measuring and disclosing decarbonisation strategies as part of standard business operations.

There is real potential that future regulations could reduce the amount of capital that banks are required to hold against loans for sustainable organisations. In fact, the Network for Greening the Financial System, an international network of 42 central bank members and eight observers, is explicitly looking at how to promote green investment through central bank regulation.

Join us for a briefing with Sean Kidney, CEO, Climate Bonds InitiativeMushtaq Kapasi, Managing Director & Chief Representative APAC, International Capital Market Association (ICMA), Simon Milne, Treasurer, ISPT and Jacki Johnson, Co-Chair of both the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative and the UNEP Finance Initiative, who will discuss the trends, current guidance, emerging guidance, practical considerations, drivers, risks and challenges in sustainable finance in Australia.

This Virtual Forum on Sustainable Finance will explore:

  • Green bonds, sustainability linked loans, sustainability bonds, social bonds and transition finance;
  • Processes, challenges and opportunities in sustainable finance;
