As you are aware, the Department of the Treasury has released its consultation paper on the Federal Government’s proposal to standardise requirements on the disclosure of climate related financial risks and opportunities in line with international requirements.

The Group of 100 and PwC have arranged to have a briefing on this important issue for all members on Tuesday 7 February 2023. Rebecca McCallum, a Director from Treasury’s Climate Disclosure Unit, will update members on the latest views from Treasury and members will then have an opportunity to ask questions/discuss their views.

Expanding reporting to include climate related disclosures will have significant implications for preparers, auditors and users of financial reporting. Stakeholders need to comprehensively consider all 19 questions posed in Treasury’s consultation paper to ensure the implementation of the government’s ambition is pragmatic and manageable.
