We are pleased to announce that the University of New South Wales (UNSW) will join the University Sprint sessions calendar, hosting an event on campus on Monday, 1 December 2025.

This UNSW session will build on the valuable insights and discussions from the first sprint at Curtin University in November, further advancing the conversation around regulatory challenges and opportunities in financial reporting.

The University Sprint event at UNSW will take place on campus in Sydney,

By leveraging the learnings from the Curtin event, we aim to deepen the dialogue and collaboratively explore practical pathways for streamlining financial reporting within Australia.

We’re also excited to share that a Melbourne date will be announced soon, expanding the reach and impact of these important discussions. We look forward to your participation and continued engagement as we work together to shape the future of financial reporting regulation.

Join senior finance leaders and academic experts for a high-impact discussion shaping the future of financial reporting in Australia

These sprints will bring together a select group of CFOs (or their first reports), alongside leading researchers, lecturers, and heads of department from participating universities. The sessions are designed to encourage meaningful exchange; challenge established thinking and stretch the discourse on key issues in financial reporting regulation.

Event Focus:

Our first sprint will address the pressing topic of regulation in the finance sector, specifically the challenges surrounding financial reporting. With over 90 different corporate and financial reports required each year—many of which are duplicative or outdated—this is an important opportunity to discuss how we can reduce red tape, streamline reporting, and make data collection both more efficient and more effective.

Why Attend?

· Engage directly with fellow CFOs, academics, and policy influencers.

· Contribute to shaping recommendations for regulatory improvement, with insights potentially shared with the Productivity Commission, the Assistant Treasurer, the Minister for Competition, and the Shadow Minister for Deregulation.

· Be part of a confidential, collaborative forum under The Chatham House Rule, ensuring open and honest discussion without attribution.

· Benefit from cross-state collaboration by comparing notes and sharing key findings with wider university and industry groups.

If you are a CFO, a direct report, or an academic leader interested in attending, please reply to this email to secure your place. Numbers are strictly limited to ensure all voices are heard.

Let’s work together to tackle the complexity of financial reporting and drive meaningful change. We look forward to your participation in this important initiative.
