From 6:30pm until 9:30pm
At Supernormal Brisbane
443 Queen St, Brisbane QLD 4000
Due to a clash of scheduling (and loyalty to football codes) the decision has been made to move the G100 Brisbane Networking Dinner from Wednesday, 9 July – the date of the 3rd State of Origin rugby league game, to the following week: Thursday 17 July.
While the popularity of G100 events is unrivalled, many of our registering guests asked not to have to choose between a night of AFL wisdom; and the thrill of a State of Origin clash.
To those that have already registered and don’t have a sporting code affiliation, we apologise for any inconvenience.
Please note: We need you to reregister your interest at the link if you can attend the new date.
We hope that you will join us for a networking dinner in Brisbane, featuring a thought-provoking discussion with Andrew Wellington, current Chair of the reigning AFL premiers, the Brisbane Lions Football Club.
In both professional sport and the boardroom, leadership requires adaptability, resilience, and the ability to make strategic decisions under pressure. Andrew Wellington brings to the table a wealth of experience from his leadership roles across sporting and corporate arenas, offering perspectives that will surprise and resonate deeply with leaders who manage teams, finances, and are at the forefront of critical decision-making.
Andrew’s reflections will be drawn from his recent article in the Australian Financial Review, ‘What to do when a cyclone blows away your flagship game,’ where he explores the intricate parallels between leading an AFL club and navigating the complex challenges of running a business. This discussion will delve into universal lessons that apply to all teams, whether on the field or in the boardroom.
Key Lessons to Be Explored
- Crisis Management and Strategic Agility: Gain insights into how adaptability and quick decision-making in high-pressure scenarios can help leaders overcome unexpected challenges.
- Balancing Performance Pressure with Long-Term Vision: Learn how to maintain focus on immediate goals while ensuring future growth and sustainability.
- Financial Transformation Driven by Sporting Success: Understand the link between achieving milestones and driving significant financial outcomes, and how similar strategies can apply to businesses.
- Player Welfare, Governance, and Integrity in High-Stakes Environments: Explore how safeguarding team wellbeing and upholding ethical standards can elevate performance and trust in any organisation.
Why CFOs Should Attend
For CFOs, broadening perspectives through leadership stories from professional sport challenges conventional thinking about team dynamics, financial strategy, and long-term planning. Andrew’s insights will demonstrate how innovative approaches in sport leadership can inspire transformative strategies for financial leaders. The evening promises to offer actionable takeaways that CFOs can integrate into their practice, providing a renewed lens through which to approach their roles.
